To reduce the potential for leachate generation, we’ve created an effective surface water management plan to greatly minimize infiltration of water at our landfill.
We do this by progressively covering and capping the site with low permeability soils as the site is filled, using a surface grading design that promotes runoff while maximizing evaporation, seeding with high transpiration plants, and constructing perimeter drainage systems that prevent surface run-on and provide adequate surface run-off. Effective drainage is provided by culverts, diversion berms, roadside swales, and perimeter ditches.
