For people concerned with sustainability and eco-friendly practices, the question isn’t where there’s a local landfill, but is there a landfill near me that values the environment as much as I do? At American Environmental Landfill, we love our planet and we want to keep things as green, lush, and lively as possible. Trash is a fact of life, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t find new and exciting ways to get rid of our garbage while still honoring the earth.

In addition to our waste-to-energy efforts, we’re also very conscientious about using litter fences and regular debris removal to keep the area surrounding our landfill clean. We’ve even created a home for honeybees to help Tulsa blossom. Learn more about our facility here.

When you’re in the middle of a huge home project and realize that you can’t go any further until you find somewhere to put all the junk you just don’t want anymore, you’ll find yourself frantically asking people if there’s a nearby landfill near that’s open on Saturday. Don’t let a weekday-only dump derail your plans for a cleaner, clutter-free home because American Environmental Landfill is open on Saturdays! You can stop by anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Just make sure your hand loads are in by 2:30 p.m.

Being able to find the nearest landfill when you need it could mean the difference between finishing up your spring cleaning—no matter what time of year you decide to scrub everything up—and succumbing to the mess.

One tip: save yourself some time and effort by understanding what you can and cannot bring by our facility. To see which of your piles you can bring to AEL, read through our acceptable materials list.

Have you ever wondered which Sand Springs landfill has won awards for sustainability? Well, the answer to that question is American Environmental Landfill. The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has designated us as the leading landfill in our industry and we were the first facility of our kind in the state of Oklahoma to become a waste-to-energy center.

We contribute to sustainability by turning the trash our community generates into renewable energy. By capturing the methane gas generated by decomposing trash, we’ve actually created enough power to supply almost 20,000 of our neighbors. For us, trash isn’t an ending. It’s just the beginning, and that’s a good thing for our community and our environment – both locally and around the globe.
